General Election Observer for 14-Lakhimpur HPC, Surya Mani Lalchand accompanied by Jonai Election Officer Pranjal Baruah on Thursday visited critical polling stations of 114-Jonai LAC in Dhemaji district. The Observer during his visit assured to provide minimum facilities such as road accessibility, water and power supply in the polling stations during the Lok Sabha election. As such, he also visited three polling stations at Bahir-Sille, Mohmara and Gali Borbali in Jonai LAC, which election department has identified as �critical�. He also inspected the Strong Room, Issue Receipt Counter and waiting shed for polling personnel besides examining functions of the EVM and VVPAT machines kept ready for the poll. The observers earlier held a meeting with Expenditure Observer Dr Sunil N Ranote, Election Officers and Micro Observers at Jonai and instructed the officials to ensure strict adherence to the election commission guidelines.

On 30th November 2021 Sunil N Ranote IRS Joint Commissioner has been promoted as Additional Commissioner of GST & Customs. The President is pleased to grant Non-Functional Selection Grade (NFSG) [i.e. Additional Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes, in the pre-revised Pay Band-4 (Rs. 37,400 – 67000/-) with Grade Pay of Rs. 8,700/- (Level 13 of Pay Matrix)] on to IRS(C&IT) officers in the grade of Joint Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes.

Back in 2019, on October 15th, Sunil N Ranote IRS  has been Appointed as Appellate authority for Central GST disputes for the State of Telangana including for Hyderabad City. Appellate Authority has been set up under the GST act for resolving all central GST disputes arising between taxpayers and GST Department. As there is no GST Tribunal for now all decisions of the GST Appellate authority can be challenged in the High court of Telangana.

During the year 2022, on May 30th Sunil N. Ranote IRS  Additional Commissioner has been transferred from Hyderabad to Chandigarh in an order issued by CBIC, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India. In the same year, Sunil N Ranote IRS Additional Commissioner  GST Chandigarh has been assigned with GST Audit Commissionerate with jurisdiction over the State of Himachal Pradesh and the City of Chandigarh on 1st August.
